Joseph H. Hertz
Joseph Herman Hertz was a prominent Jewish Rabbi and biblical scholar, born on September 25, 1872, in Rebrin, Slovakia. He moved to the United States in his youth, where he pursued his education, eventually earning a Ph.D. from Columbia University. Hertz served as the Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the British Empire from 1913 until his death in 1946. He was known for his intellectual contributions to Jewish thought and his efforts to bridge traditional Jewish scholarship with modern challenges.
