Jean-Yves Ferri
Jean-Yves Ferri is a French writer and cartoonist, born on April 20, 1959, in Mostaganem, Algeria. He is best known for his work on the Asterix series, which he took over from the original creators René Goscinny and Albert Uderzo. Ferri's involvement with Asterix began with the album 'Asterix and the Picts' in 2013, which marked the first time neither of the original creators were involved in the writing or illustration of an Asterix story.
Before his work on Asterix, Ferri created and collaborated on several other comic series. He gained recognition with 'Le Retour à la terre,' a comic series illustrated by Manu Larcenet, which humorously depicts the life of a Parisian writer who moves to the countryside. This series was well-received for its wit and insightful commentary on rural life versus urban life.
Ferri's style is characterized by his sharp wit and a strong sense of narrative, making him a fitting successor to continue the legacy of the beloved Asterix series. His ability to blend humor with historical and contemporary issues has helped to keep the Asterix series relevant and beloved by new generations of readers around the world.
