Rabbi Yosef Dov Soloveitchik of Brisk
Rabbi Yosef Dov Soloveitchik of Brisk, also known as the Beis HaLevi, was a prominent rabbinic figure in the 19th century. He was born in 1820 in Nesvizh, then part of the Russian Empire, and he died in 1892 in Brisk. He is best known for his contributions to Jewish law and his analytical approach to Talmud study, which has been highly influential in the development of the Brisker method, a method of Talmudic study named after the town of Brisk where he served as a rabbi.
