Synopsis

The Kornitzer Edition: Vocalized Hebrew, Interlinear Translation, Comparative Halachah, Summary of Every Siman

The Aruch HaShulchan on ta'aruvos - the laws of forbidden mixtures and nullification - in full Hebrew with a line-by-line English translation.

Rabbi Yechiel Michel HaLevi Epstein (1829-1908), Av Beis Din of Novardok, built the Aruch HaShulchan as a code that shows its work, carrying each halachah from the Gemara through the Rishonim and the Shulchan Aruch to the practice of his day. This volume opens the most technical - and most practically consulted - stretch of Yoreh De'ah to the English reader.

Volume 2 covers Simanim 100-110: beriah, the whole creature that is never nullified; chatichah hare'uyah lehiskabed; davar sheyesh lo matirin; nosen ta'am lifgam and repulsive substances; kavush, cooking, roasting and salting; nullification in sixty and whether a piece that absorbed a prohibition regains its permitted status; eggs and fish cooked together when one is found forbidden, and insects found in food; ri'ach - whether aroma alone forbids; dry mixed with dry and nullification by simple majority; and the laws of significant items, living creatures, kavua and sfek sfeika.

What this edition gives you
  • The complete Hebrew text, fully vocalized - every word pointed with nikud.
  • Interlinear English translation and elucidation - the translation runs inside the Hebrew, phrase by phrase, supplying the reasoning the Aruch HaShulchan assumes.
  • Comparative halachah boxes - the Aruch HaShulchan set beside the Chochmas Adam, the Pischei Teshuva and the Darkei Teshuva, with the points of divergence spelled out.
  • Later authorities and further study - rulings traced into the responsa of Rabbi Moshe Feinstein (Igros Moshe), the Minchas Yitzchak, the Tzitz Eliezer, the Shevet HaLevi, the Yabia Omer, the Chazon Ish and the Kaf HaChaim, alongside the Shulchan Aruch HaRav, Piskei Admur HaZaken and the Tzemach Tzedek - each source summarized so you know what it holds before you open it.
  • A practical summary of every siman - the Tamtzis Aruch HaShulchan, giving each siman's dinim in brief.
  • Two indexes - an Index of Sources and a Subject Index.

Ideal for semicha students preparing yoreh yoreh - these are the simanim the bechinah lives on - and for rabbanim, dayanim, kashrus professionals and serious learners. Large 7 x 10 format, clear type, and a layout built for the shtender.
