Rav Ashi and Ravina

Rav Ashi and Ravina are the traditional compilers of the Babylonian Talmud, completed around the 6th century CE. Rav Ashi, a prominent Jewish scholar and leader, served as the head of the Sura Academy in Babylon from 375 to 427 CE. He is credited with initiating the compilation of discussions and rulings that form the Gemara. Ravina, his successor, continued this work, and his contributions are considered to finalize the Talmud around 500 CE. Their leadership and scholarly work have been fundamental in shaping Jewish law and tradition.
