Rabbi Levi Ibn Habib
Rabbi Levi ibn Habib, also known as Ralbah, was born in the late 15th century in Spain and later moved to the Ottoman Empire with his family following the expulsion of Jews from Spain. He was the son of Rabbi Yaakov ibn Habib, the original compiler of the Ein Yaakov. Rabbi Levi is credited with completing the Ein Yaakov after his father's death. He later became the Chief Rabbi of Jerusalem, a significant position given the tumultuous times and the diverse Jewish community in the region. His works, including his completion of the Ein Yaakov, have been influential in Jewish learning, providing a structured way to study the narrative parts of the Talmud separately from the legalistic sections.
