Saadia Gaon
Saadia Gaon, also known as Saadiah ben Yosef, was a prominent Jewish philosopher, exegete, and scholar active during the early medieval period. Born in Egypt in 882 or 892, he later moved to the Babylonian city of Sura, where he became the head of the famed academy. Saadia is well-known for his works in Hebrew linguistics, Jewish philosophy, and his translations and commentaries on Hebrew scriptures. His efforts were pivotal in shaping Jewish thought and his works have had a lasting impact on both Jewish liturgy and law.
