Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Halevi Herzog

Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Halevi Herzog (1888-1959) was a prominent rabbi and scholar who served as the Chief Rabbi of Ireland and later as the first Ashkenazi Chief Rabbi of the State of Israel. He was known for his deep knowledge in Jewish law, philosophy, and ethics, and was a respected figure in both the religious and secular communities. Rabbi Herzog's contributions to Jewish thought and his diplomatic efforts on behalf of the Jewish people during and after the Holocaust are well-documented. He was also instrumental in addressing issues related to the state and religion in the formative years of Israel.
