Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib Alter

Rabbi Yehuda Aryeh Leib Alter, also known as the Sfas Emes, was a prominent Hasidic rabbi and the leader of the Ger Hasidic dynasty in Poland. Born in 1847 in Warsaw, Poland, he became the Rebbe of Ger after the death of his grandfather, the Chidushei Harim. Under his leadership, Ger grew to become one of the largest and most influential Hasidic dynasties in Poland. Rabbi Alter was known for his deep Kabbalistic interpretations of Jewish texts and his works continue to be studied in yeshivas around the world.
