Gordon C. Zahn
Gordon Charles Zahn (1918-2007) was an American sociologist and pacifist who was a pioneering figure in the study of the Catholic Church's response to war and violence. He was a professor at the University of Massachusetts Boston and is best known for his studies on German Catholics during the Nazi era, particularly through his book 'German Catholics and Hitler's Wars: A Study in Social Control'. Zahn’s work often focused on how individuals and institutions respond to moral and ethical challenges in times of conflict. His research was instrumental in shedding light on the complexities of moral decision-making during the Holocaust and the roles that religious beliefs played in such circumstances.
