Rabbi Yosef Ergas

Rabbi Yosef Ergas was an 18th-century Kabbalist and philosopher from Italy, born around 1680 in Livorno. He is best known for his works on Jewish mysticism and philosophy, particularly his contributions to the understanding of Kabbalah. Rabbi Ergas was a student of Rabbi Moshe Zacuto and other prominent Kabbalistic figures of his time, which greatly influenced his mystical and philosophical outlook.

His most famous work, 'Shomer Emunim,' delves into the depths of Kabbalistic thought and attempts to systematize the teachings of the Kabbalah in a coherent and structured manner. This work is considered a significant contribution to Jewish mystical literature, providing insights into the divine structure of the universe and the soul’s journey within it.
