Yehoshua Neuwirth

Rabbi Yehoshua Neuwirth (1927-2013) was a prominent Orthodox rabbi and a leading authority on the laws of Shabbat. Born in Germany, he moved to Israel after World War II, where he became a disciple of Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Auerbach, one of the greatest rabbinical authorities of the 20th century. Rabbi Neuwirth is best known for his seminal work 'Shemirath Shabbath: A Guide to the Practical Observance of Shabbat', which is considered a definitive text on the subject.

He studied at the Hebron Yeshiva and later taught at the Kol Torah yeshiva in Jerusalem. His teachings and rulings are highly respected in the Jewish world and continue to influence the practice of Shabbat observance among Orthodox Jews globally.
