Albert Uderzo

Albert Uderzo was born on April 25, 1927, in Fismes, France, to Italian immigrants. He is best known as the co-creator and illustrator of the famous 'Asterix' comic book series, which he started in collaboration with writer René Goscinny in 1959. Uderzo's distinctive artistic style is characterized by its clean lines and expressive characters, which have become iconic in the world of comics.

Uderzo showed an early talent for drawing, and his first professional work was as an illustrator in Paris after World War II. He met Goscinny in 1951, and they initially worked on various projects before creating 'Asterix', which became an international success. Uderzo's illustrations brought the stories to life, capturing the imagination of readers with vibrant and dynamic scenes that perfectly complemented Goscinny's witty texts.

After Goscinny's death in 1977, Uderzo took over the writing duties for 'Asterix', continuing to produce new volumes and maintaining the series' popularity. He retired in 2011, having contributed to the creation of over 30 'Asterix' books, which have been translated into numerous languages and adapted into several films. Uderzo's contributions to the comic book industry have been recognized with numerous awards, and his work continues to be celebrated by fans around the world. He passed away on March 24, 2020, leaving behind a rich legacy that continues to entertain and inspire.
