Yaakov Abuchatzeira
Rabbi Yaakov Abuchatzeira, also known as the Abir Yaakov, was a prominent Moroccan Jewish rabbi and kabbalist in the 19th century. Born in 1806 in Tafilalt, Morocco, he was renowned for his piety, scholarship, and the miracles he performed. Rabbi Yaakov was a revered figure in the Jewish community and is best known for his works on Jewish law and mysticism, as well as his poetic writings on religious and ethical subjects. He belonged to the Abuchatzeira rabbinical family, a lineage that includes several notable rabbis. His grandson, Rabbi Yisrael Abuchatzeira, known as the Baba Sali, was also a famous kabbalist. Rabbi Yaakov's journey to the Land of Israel, which he undertook late in his life, ended tragically when he died in 1880 in Damanhour, Egypt. His tomb in Egypt remains a popular pilgrimage site for many Jews.
