Chizkuni

Chizkuni, also known as Hezekiah ben Manoah, was a French rabbi and biblical commentator who lived during the 13th century. His works are primarily focused on biblical exegesis, drawing heavily from both earlier and contemporary Jewish scholars. Chizkuni's commentary is noted for its blend of peshat (simple interpretation) and derash (homiletical interpretation), often incorporating linguistic insights and attention to the nuances of the Hebrew text. His approach reflects a deep engagement with the text and a commitment to elucidating its religious and moral lessons. Despite his significant contributions, many details about his life remain obscure, reflecting the limited historical records from this period. His works, however, continue to be studied for their insightful analysis and methodological rigor, contributing to Jewish learning and interpretation through the centuries.
