Isidore Singer
Isidore Singer was an editor and bibliographer, best known for his work as the project manager and editor of the first edition of the Jewish Encyclopedia. Born in Hungary in 1859, Singer pursued his education in Vienna before moving to the United States. His work on the Jewish Encyclopedia, which began publication in 1901, was a monumental contribution to Jewish scholarship, providing a comprehensive overview of Jewish life, culture, and history. Singer's efforts helped to make Jewish knowledge more accessible and laid the groundwork for future scholarly work in Jewish studies.
