Zadoc Kahn
Zadoc Kahn was a French rabbi and chief rabbi of France from 1889 until his death in 1905. He was born in 1839 in Mommenheim, Bas-Rhin, in the Alsace region of France. Kahn was known for his intellectual contributions to Jewish scholarship and for his efforts in integrating the Jewish community into French society. He played a significant role in modernizing the French Jewish community and was involved in various philanthropic activities. Kahn was also a prolific writer and translator, and his works include translations of Jewish religious texts into French, which have been influential in the study and understanding of Jewish scripture in the Francophone world.
