Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai
Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, often known by his acronym Rashbi, was a tannaitic sage in ancient Israel, said to have lived during the 2nd century CE. He is most famous for his attributed authorship of the Zohar, the chief work of Kabbalah. Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai was a disciple of Rabbi Akiva and is often celebrated for his deep spiritual insights and commitment to the Jewish mystical tradition.
