Moisés Isserles
Rabbi Moisés Isserles, commonly known as the Rema, was born in 1520 in Kraków, Poland, and died there in 1572. He is renowned for his work HaMapah, a commentary on Rabbi Yosef Karo's Shulchan Aruch, which incorporated Ashkenazi customs and laws not covered in the original work. Isserles' contributions made the Shulchan Aruch accessible and relevant to both Ashkenazi and Sephardi Jews, effectively creating a unified framework for Jewish law across diverse Jewish communities.
