George M. Lamsa

George M. Lamsa was an Assyrian author and translator born in 1892 in Mar Bishu, Ottoman Empire. He is best known for his translation of the Bible from the Aramaic Peshitta version into English. Lamsa's upbringing in the Assyrian Church of the East, surrounded by Aramaic speakers, provided him with a deep understanding of the language and cultural context of the Bible. He moved to the United States in the early 20th century, where he continued his scholarly work and writing.
