Rabbi Yehudah Lev Ashlag
Rabbi Yehudah Lev Ashlag, also known as Baal HaSulam for his magnum opus, 'The Sulam' (Ladder) commentary on The Book of Zohar, was a renowned Kabbalist born in Warsaw, Poland in 1884. He is considered one of the greatest Kabbalists of the twentieth century. His works are deeply rooted in the teachings of Kabbalah, and he sought to make the study of Kabbalah accessible and understandable to all, emphasizing the importance of personal spiritual development and the pursuit of a deeper understanding of the nature of reality.
Rabbi Ashlag immigrated to Israel in the 1920s, where he continued his work and teachings on Kabbalah. He established a Kabbalistic yeshiva called Beit HaMidrash HaRambam in Jerusalem, where he taught a small group of students. His teachings emphasized the need for personal transformation through the study of Kabbalah, which he believed could lead to a more harmonious society.
Throughout his life, Rabbi Ashlag authored numerous works on Kabbalah, including Talmud Eser Sefirot and many other articles and books. His writings focus on the inner meanings of the Torah and the Zohar, aiming to unveil the spiritual framework of the universe and the human soul's role within it. His legacy continues to influence many Kabbalists around the world, and his works are studied by those seeking to delve deeper into the mystical aspects of Judaism.
