Rabbi David Kimchi (Radak)
Rabbi David Kimchi, known as Radak, was a medieval rabbi, philosopher, and biblical commentator from Provence, France. He lived during the 12th and 13th centuries and was a member of a family of Jewish scholars, which included his father, Joseph Kimchi. Radak is especially noted for his commentaries on the Prophets and the Writings, although he also wrote on the Torah. His works are characterized by a focus on grammar and philology, aiming to clarify the Hebrew text and its meanings. Radak's commentaries are included in the Mikraot Gedolot and are highly regarded for their linguistic insights and detailed analysis of biblical prophecy. His influence extends beyond Jewish scholarship, having impacted Christian scholars during the Renaissance and continuing to be a key resource in biblical studies today.
