Rabbi Sharon Shalom

Rabbi Dr. Sharon Shalom is originally from Ethiopia and made Aliyah to Israel as part of Operation Moses when he was a child. He is one of the first Ethiopian-Israeli rabbis recognized by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. Rabbi Shalom studied at Yeshivat Har Etzion and later earned his PhD from Bar-Ilan University, where his research focused on Jewish law and Ethiopian Jewry.

He serves as the rabbi of the Kdoshei Yisrael community in Kiryat Gat and is a lecturer at Ono Academic College. Rabbi Shalom is an influential figure in integrating Ethiopian Jewish customs and traditions into mainstream Israeli religious practice. His work includes advocacy for the Ethiopian Jewish community in Israel and efforts to preserve their unique heritage.

Rabbi Shalom is also an author and has written several books and articles. His writings often explore the intersection of Ethiopian Jewish traditions and general Jewish law, aiming to bridge cultural gaps and promote understanding within the diverse Israeli society.
