Rabbi Prof. Avraham Steinberg
Rabbi Professor Avraham Steinberg is an Israeli medical ethicist, pediatric neurologist, and rabbi. He directs the Medical Ethics Unit at Shaare Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. Steinberg is also an associate clinical professor of medical ethics at the Hebrew University-Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem. His extensive work in Jewish medical ethics is internationally recognized, and he has published numerous articles and books on the subject. Rabbi Steinberg is perhaps best known for his monumental Encyclopedia of Jewish Medical Ethics, which received the Israel Prize for original rabbinic literature in 1999. His expertise spans both the realms of modern medicine and traditional Jewish law, making him a prominent figure in discussions and decisions regarding medical ethics in the Jewish context.
