Stefan Reif

Stefan C. Reif is a professor emeritus at the University of Cambridge, where he was a Fellow of St John's College and the founder and Director of the Genizah Research Unit at the Cambridge University Library. His academic work primarily focuses on Jewish liturgy, Hebrew manuscripts, and medieval Jewish history, with a particular emphasis on the Cairo Genizah, a collection of Jewish manuscript fragments. Reif has published extensively in these areas, contributing significantly to the understanding of Jewish life and culture in the medieval Islamic world.

Throughout his career, Stefan Reif has been instrumental in making the treasures of the Cairo Genizah accessible to scholars worldwide.
