Gulbahar Haitiwaji
Gulbahar Haitiwaji is a Uyghur woman who has gained international attention through her harrowing account of survival in a Chinese 'reeducation' camp. Born in Xinjiang, China, she belongs to the Uyghur ethnic minority. Her experiences highlight the human rights abuses faced by Uyghurs in China. After living in France for several years, she was detained upon her return to China and spent nearly three years in detention centers, where she was subjected to indoctrination and harsh conditions. Her memoir, co-authored with Rozenn Morgat, sheds light on the plight of the Uyghur community under Chinese policies.
