Shlomo Riskin
Rabbi Shlomo Riskin is an influential Orthodox rabbi, educator, and author. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he graduated from Yeshiva University and later received his rabbinical ordination from Rabbi Joseph B. Soloveitchik. Riskin is the founding rabbi of the Lincoln Square Synagogue in Manhattan, which became a central hub for Modern Orthodox Judaism.
In 1983, Rabbi Riskin made Aliyah to Israel and founded the city of Efrat in Judea and Samaria, where he continues to serve as the Chief Rabbi. He also established the Ohr Torah Stone Institutions, a network of colleges, graduate programs, and high schools offering Jewish education with a focus on leadership and community service.
Rabbi Riskin has written numerous books and articles on Jewish theology, law, and ethics. He is known for his progressive views on women's rights in Judaism and his efforts to bridge gaps between different Jewish denominations. His teachings and writings emphasize a compassionate and inclusive approach to Jewish law and tradition.
