Rupi Kaur
Rupi Kaur is a poet, artist, and performer. Her works are characterized by their thematic exploration of love, loss, trauma, healing, femininity, and migration. Born in Punjab, India, she moved to Canada with her family at a young age and has since pursued a career in writing and art. Kaur's poetry is often distinguished by its simplicity and accessibility, making use of lowercase lettering and the absence of most punctuation marks, a style she attributes to her cultural background.
Her first book, 'Milk and Honey', was published in 2014 and quickly became an international bestseller. It is a collection of poetry and prose about survival and the experience of violence, abuse, love, loss, and femininity. The book is divided into four chapters, each serving a different purpose and exploring different pains and healing processes. 'Milk and Honey' has been translated into several languages and has sold over a million copies worldwide.
Following the success of 'Milk and Honey', Rupi Kaur published her second book, 'The Sun and Her Flowers' in 2017. This collection continues to explore similar themes as her first, with a focus on growth and healing. Kaur's work has resonated with a large audience, particularly among young women, and she has been acclaimed for her candid expression and the emotional depth of her writing. She continues to tour and perform her poetry across the world, connecting with her readers through spoken word performances and workshops.
