Marshall B Rosenberg

Marshall B. Rosenberg (1934–2015) was an American psychologist, mediator, author and educator who developed Nonviolent Communication, a process that focuses on fostering compassionate connection and understanding between parties in conflict. He founded the Center for Nonviolent Communication, an international nonprofit organization that provides education and training in the methods he developed.

Throughout his life, Rosenberg was dedicated to understanding the causes of violence and suffering, which led him to develop Nonviolent Communication (NVC) in the 1960s. NVC is based on the principles of nonviolence—the natural state of compassion when no violence is present in the heart. Rosenberg's approach teaches people how to express themselves in a way that promotes understanding and connection, and how to listen to others with empathy and genuine curiosity.

Rosenberg's work in NVC has been applied worldwide in all types of relationships, including personal, professional, and political. His teachings emphasize the power of language to create peace and foster deeper connections between people. He authored several books on the subject, including the influential 'Nonviolent Communication: A Language of Life,' which has been translated into more than 30 languages and has sold over one million copies worldwide.
